Florence Smith- USCG Veteran
Florence Smith is 100 years old, going on 30.
What is Honor Flight?
Honor Flight Maine is a non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s Veterans for all their service and sacrifices. We transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to tour, experience and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to our most frail veterans – terminally ill veterans of all conflicts and World War II survivors. Korean and Vietnam Veterans are also transported on a first-come, first-served, space-available basis.
Of all the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation – and as a culturally diverse and free society. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 600 WWII Veterans die every day. Our time to express our thanks to these most senior heroes is rapidly running out.
Your help is urgently needed to make their last hopes and dreams of finally visiting THEIR memorial a reality.

Always remembering Kevin Waters~ Owner of Penobscot Island Air, Veteran and loved by all!
All of us at Honor Flight Maine cherish our memories and time spent with Kevin and continue to keep Terry Waters, Terry & Kevin's families, and the Penobscot Island Air family close in thought as they continue operations at PIA so amazingly well in Kevin's memory and legacy.
Kevin, Terry(former HFM Board members), and the many Veteran loving employees and pilot friends were incredibly supportive of Honor Flight Maine from it's "take-off" from Vinalhaven back in 2014 through to 2019 flights!
The efforts and care of everyone at PIA helped make the impossible possible for dozens of elderly Veterans from all over Maine to travel from as far north as the Canadian border, east, west and south by private small plane ops to Portland PWM to start their Honor Flight Maine journey to their National Memorials in Washington DC.
We are forever grateful!
Kevin, we will never forget you and your ever giving, loving heart!
God love ya! (Kevin would say)
Kevin, we're sure He did even more once you were before Him! We all need to "Be Like Kevin"

The Memorial Day 2022 week-end HFM Trip is dedicated to:
Veteran Kevin Waters ~ Dulsey Varney RN ~ Veteran Leroy Peasley ~ Veteran Carmine Pecorelli
A flower will be placed at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington Cemetery in their memory.
Due to challenging financial times for so many, we have suspended ""TEXT to DONATE until further notice!
It is easy & secure and we will reinstate this feature in the near future!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One way to donate "In Memory of" or " In Honor of", is via our printable brochure which has a form tab for your special message and the Veteran's name who has passed. Include this along with your check made payable to Honor Flight Maine.
We will be forever grateful, before his or her final deployment, that we were able to provide this "trip of a lifetime" to show how much we at Honor Flight Maine & America truly appreciated their service and sacrifice to our country!
