Major General Tom Spencer (Ret.)

Major General Spencer (Ret) recently retired from after 37 years of service in the U.S. Army, New
Hampshire Army National Guard and New York Army National Guard.

MG Spencer’s last assignment was as the Commanding General, 42nd Infantry Division, New York Army
National Guard. MG Spencer has served in numerous leadership and staff positions over his 37 years. In
the past 15 years he the Deputy Commanding General – Support, 42nd Infantry Division, Commander
New Hampshire Army National Guard and Commander, 197th Field Artillery Brigade, New Hampshire
Army National Guard.

MG Spencer is a veteran of Desert Shield / Storm in Saudi Arabia and Iraq (1990-91), Operation Restore
Hope in Mogadishu, Somalia (1993-94), Task Force Eagle in Bosnia (1996), Operation Iraqi Freedom, Iraq
(2004-05) and Operation Spartan Shield, Kuwait (2020).

Some of MG Spencer’s awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2 Oak Leaf
Clusters) Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Accommodation Medal (Silver Oak leaf
Cluster), Meritorious Unit Award (2nd award) and the Army Superior Unit Award.

MG Spencer has lived in York, ME for the past 26 years with his wife Wendy, he and Wendy have 3
grown daughters.
